Basket Strainer

Customized product to meet the individual space and performance requirement.

Available to direct assemble in line size.

Cross design Basket Filter Element

Can be designed for line size of 1⁄2” to 24” and more

10 micron to 2 mm filtration rating is available

Where the application fluid has considerable qty. of solid load and coarser filtration (i.e. more than 10 micron) is require, basket strainer is recommended design in such requirement. Fluid flows through filter element from Inside to Out side or Out side to Inside surface direction as per design requirement. Filter element is supported with wire mesh (from one side of main wire mesh or both side of filter mesh) and higher gauge perforation to get the proper strength to element.

Basket Strainer is available in

  • Carbon Steel / Mild Steel
  • SS 304
  • SS 316
  • Alloy Steel
  • Duplex SS 2205
  • Hastelloy etc.

Available End Connections

  • Butt Weld
  • Flanged End With SORF, FF
  • Grooved
  • Threaded
  • Socket Weld
  • Try Clover Adaptor

Features

  • High flow rate can be handled
  • Customized design and size is available
  • Easy to clean in insitu condition through application of reverse flow of suitable fluid
  • Easy dismantle of element for cleaning or maintenance
  • High Temperature and Pressure design can be handled
  • Lower pressure drop because of consideration of higher filtration area, i.e.filtration area is 3 to 6 times of end connection cross section area

A basket strainer, also known as a basket filter or simplex strainer, is a type of filtration device used to remove solid particles or debris from fluid flows. It is commonly employed in industrial applications to protect downstream equipment, such as pumps, valves, and meters, from damage caused by contaminants.

A basket strainer consists of a perforated or mesh-lined basket that is housed within a strainer body or housing. The basket is typically made of metal, such as stainless steel, and is designed to capture and retain solid particles larger than the filtration openings.

The fluid flows into the basket strainer through an inlet, and the perforations or mesh of the basket allow the liquid to pass through while trapping and holding the solid particles. The filtered fluid then exits through an outlet, leaving behind the captured debris within the basket.

The basket strainer is equipped with a cover or closure mechanism that allows for easy access to the basket for cleaning or replacement. This closure mechanism can be a bolted lid, a quick-opening clamp, or a threaded connection, depending on the specific design of the strainer.

Basket strainers are available in various sizes and configurations to accommodate different flow rates, pressure ratings, and particle sizes. They are commonly used in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, water treatment, power generation, and manufacturing processes that involve liquids containing solid contaminants.

Benefits of basket strainers include their ability to handle high flow rates, their effectiveness in removing a wide range of particle sizes, and their ease of maintenance. By capturing solid particles and debris, basket strainers help prevent clogging and damage to downstream equipment, thereby maintaining the efficiency and longevity of the entire system.

When selecting a basket strainer, factors to consider include the compatibility with the process fluid, the desired flow rate and pressure capacity, the material compatibility with the fluid, the size and configuration of the strainer, and any applicable industry standards or certifications.

In summary, a basket strainer is a filtration device that utilizes a perforated or mesh-lined basket to capture and retain solid particles from fluid flows. It is widely used in industrial applications to protect downstream equipment and ensure the smooth operation of processes by removing contaminants from the fluid.
